The concept of Therapeutic Exercise was defined by Sydney Lichten in 1984 as “the movement of the body or its parts to relieve symptoms or improve function”.
The purpose of this presentation is to remind that Physical Activity programs are a great tool for preventing and treating many diseases. These programs are prescribed and supervised by health professionals that could come from different fields.
When they are not related to the treatment of diseases, such programs of Physical Activity are called Physical Exercise, which prolongs the social and vital enjoyable time of a person, slows down the changes implied in the process of aging, and increases working capacity.
